“One of the things that makes humans different from animals is that we are given the sense and ability of judgment to make sound decisions. We have instincts and desires just as animals do, but we have the ability to use sense, knowledge, and wisdom to discipline ourselves, while animals, for the most part, don’t. Sadly, however, we are a creation that is ungrateful and ignorant. We have been given so much, yet we don’t use any of it, and resort back to animalistic ways. Control yourself when facing your desires, be wise and disciplined in how you approach things, and be grateful and thankful to God for giving you so much. Live to the fullest, but maintain wisdom, intelligence, and discipline.” —Nadir Keval (via nadirkeval)

Ibn al Qayim says that there are three things that will enable a person to remain happy. 1. Recognise the blessings of Allāh and thank Him for them. 2. If any difficulty befalls you, remain patient.
3. If you fall into sin or error you seek repentance. If you perfect all these three you will remain a happy person - Ibn al Qayim.

“After ar-Rabi` bin Khaytham became partially paralyzed, he used to go to the mosque helped by two men. He was told: “O Abu Yazid! You have been given permission to pray at home.” He said, “You have said the truth, but I heard the caller herald, ‘Hayya `ala al-Falah (Come to success)’, and I thought that whoever hears this call should answer it even by crawling.” —[Hilyat al Awliya 2/113] (via dawah-tu-salafiyyah)
